On Top Of The World

With a sophisticated big city look, the large living space of this contemporary penthouse at Paramount Bay in Miami was designed to take advantage of the surrounding views. Neutral colors of white and sand blend in with the blue of the sky. The ceiling is made glamorous by the use of LED lights; a mirror hides the large projection TV.

When the designer from Artefacto Dream Homes and the owner of Finish My Condo were asked to collaborate on the creation of this cool 5,500-square-foot penthouse at Miami’s Paramount Bay residences, they were given only five months to work their magic.

The dining room comes alive with a stunning chandelier and floor to ceiling windows bringing the outside in. The white Artefacto dining table and luxurious leather chairs provide a wonderful space to entertain both day and night amid pure water views.

Artefacto is the Brazilian furniture maker known for its clean and contemporary style, while Finish My Condo is a builder/contractor that also develops luxury building individual/model units from the planning stages to turnkey results.

Together, they created a sophisticated 46th floor residential concept which included space planning, build-out and design. Paramount Bay, located on Miami’s popular Biscayne Corridor, is the stunning Arquitectonica designed high-rise building with creative input by music and design dynamo Lenny Kravitz.

We want to be sure no one inside is ever in a rush to leave.

Indeed, the Artefacto-Finish My Condo team had a grand environment in which to work. “My vision was to integrate the wonderful ocean views with the interior space and imagine the serene world within,” says Martin Lorenzo, the designer for Artefacto Dream Homes.

Together with Ariel D. Tomat, President and CEO of Finish My Condo, who acted as the bridge among the art, design and construction phases, they were able to create a unique visual balance and take advantage of the surrounding Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay’s natural beauty.

But the team started frugally with no more than an empty box: no kitchen, no bathrooms, or connections of any kind in place. “We took the challenge,” says Lorenzo. “Every room was spaced to reach the optimal level. Architectural detail on ceilings and other interior detail were placed throughout before we embarked upon the design.”

To enter the penthouse is to be immersed in amazing water views that surround the rooms and seem endless like a fairyland of distant sea. The team designed with white and sand colors, which created a warm and pleasant feeling. The neutral palette was perfect for building on the contemporary, sophisticated and elegant concept.

The walls have different textures which inspire the guests to take a closer look. “There are wall coverings, special finishes and fabrics,” says Lorenzo, who confirmed that all of the furnishings come from Artefacto, with accessories purchased around the world.

During a walkthrough, guests discover concealed floors, special millwork and mirrors, all designed with perfection, while the lighting has created an atmosphere to enhance the beauty of every space.

Expansive views from the large living area make guests feel as if they are gazing at the water from a yacht. The ceiling was designed with LED lights, and the use of mirrors hides a grand projection TV. “The living area is created so you can sit and relax while watching your favorite movie with family and friends,” says Lorenzo. “You get the best of both worlds.”

The dining room is another study of minimalism with glorious water views. Evening dinner parties are romantic and chill in dreamy surroundings. The room is centered with a gorgeous white dining table and 12 luxurious leather chairs. “This area is where the best moments are shared,” reveals Lorenzo. “Family and friends can enjoy close conversation and quality time while immersing themselves in the splendid water views.”

The dining room is a perfect prelude to the neighboring European styled kitchen, a super contemporary stunner designed with high gloss and built with perfection. The open space was created with the gourmet cook in mind, a person who likes to share his or her skills with family and friends. The look is completed with state-of-the-art Miele, Sub Zero and Thermador appliances, including a remote controlled retractable exhaust.

A walk to the master bedroom finds a magical oasis of ocean and sky via more floor-to-ceiling glass windows. The use of materials was well thought out to make the room peaceful, conducive to sleep and restoration from guests’ busy lives. The king sized bed’s white leather headboard contrasts with the depth of the organic texture of the wall covering. There is also an architectural lighting plan, a wall attached flat-screen TV and a brilliant use of top of the line linens and furnishings made with neutral colors and high quality materials.

The elegant yet spare bathroom is dominated by a large modern white soaking tub which contrasts with the dark texture of the wall. Marvelous views are repeated in this room. The vibe is like visiting a spa in Japan, Sweden or Denmark.

The seating area with oversized chairs and a round glass table allows for the occupant or friends to sit and relax at the window while enjoying the beauty of the rolling blue green sea. “You always have a view of the amazing balcony,” says Lorenzo. “It is a perfect place to sit and watch the romantic afternoon sunsets.”

The two textured crocodile and chrome night stands add balance to the space, and the multi-faceted suede area rug ties the entire room together.

Like the rest of this immaculate penthouse, the bedroom is so serene and comforting, that the team knew guests would want to linger. “We put in the extras to make this penthouse extraordinary,” says Lorenzo. “We want to be sure no one inside is ever in a rush to leave.”
