AFTER A HISTORY OF ARTISTRY AND MUCH RECOGNITION FOR ITS FINE ITALIAN KITCHENS, VENETA CUCINE, ONE OF ITALY’S PREMIERE KITCHEN MAKERS, IS STRONGLY SETTING FOOT ALL OVER THE UNITED STATES VIA AN UNLIKELY ROUTE THROUGH VENEZUELA AND MIAMI.
By Nelson Agelvis
Veneta Cucine Venezuela began as an idea to offer and represent Veneta Cucine from Italy in Latin-America, complementing an already established family business in Venezuela which sold appliances, named Distribuidora Modica. Riding on the respect the name had earned, Nello Bonanno and Giovanna Di Tommasi opened their first Veneta Cucine store in Maracaibo, Venezuela in 1997, and later expanded distribution to the capital city of Caracas, and other cities across the country, with the vision to later come north, and so they did.
In October 2004, Veneta Cucine came to Florida, settling in North Miami, with the purpose of covering direct sales to customers and designers in the United States. Here, as children of Italian immigrants, the partners applied the tenacity, will to work and love of their new land that their parents had applied when they arrived to Venezuela, learning to value the nation that opened their arms to them in its heyday. This allowed these entrepreneurs to exhibit the art of Veneta Cucine in South Florida, immediately recognized as a quality product maker with over 40 years in business and 500 employees at its facilities in Italy and more than 1,000 showrooms worldwide.
Later came the recession that made the business adapt and become stronger, moving four years ago to their current showroom, which they totally remodeled and launched with a grand reopening, displaying all their new items, in both modern and classic styles, with Italian glamour and functionality. In this larger showroom, with designer/architect Nathalie Benhamu and designer Corrado Bonanno, Veneta Cucine offers estimates and custom designs as well as complete remodelings.
Currently, with the confidence of having Veneta Cucine in the Americas for 17 years, the intrepid partners are opening new showrooms in Coral Gables and Doral in the coming months, where they will also place their kitchens in a housing project that is soon to be built.
With kitchens installed in as faraway places as New York, New Jersey and Houston, Veneta Cucine now offers nationwide service. Likewise, using the convenience of the Port of Miami, the company also covers markets such as Aruba, Curacao, Anguilla and most other Caribbean islands.
New showrooms are planned in the broader American market too, such as in New Jersey, which is already in negotiations, while others are at the paperwork phase, all with the support of a major Italian manufacturer and the confidence gained over years of hard work and experience, derived from an idea that was born in a small street in the Veneto region of Italy, hopped to Venezuela, and arrived grandly in the United States of America.
